Ms. Valerie Deane Williamson grew up as Valerie Deane Noah. Born in the City of Angels, the city of Los Angeles, Los Angeles, CA. The Date: January 5th, 1945 (4yrs old) is when “comfort changed” for her. A pronounced knock at the door a number of days later would come to shutter her to her core. The news her father was killed on the U.S.S. Louisville in the location of the Lingayen Gulf, WWII. Navy Brat now-turned Air Force Brat, because her mom remarried to decorated U.S. Fighter Pilot Major Peter P. Hanley of the U.S. Army Air Force. Flanked by her younger sister Sandy, the family unit would move to be whole again. Doing great, being studious, thriving in her later teens, “she too” would marry and bring forth four little ones. Working at Sears Department Store in Alaska in 1959 at age 19 as a credit processor, she began to add more and more facets to her upward mobility. She worked for my dad at Coast Carpet Company as a wonderful secretary. She balanced raising the kids, working the job, going back to school, and being a wife (2 times), and finding a “direction” in a career that would pay-off in dividends. She traveled incountry and internationally to sights and monuments. Valerie, all-the-while amassed her standing/education with the earning of an Associate Degree (1978) at Saddleback College in Southern California in Business Administration. A Bachelor of Arts Degree, Business Management (1980) Sonoma State University, Northern California. Worked after that as a Compliance Officer, VP. An Accounting Manager. Then, a Vice President of a Compliance Department up-to 2003. Now retired, and has dealings in some interests she’s pursuing. Valerie found time to put down in a workbook the scope she’d had in her head, influenced by worthy people, and agency-leaders leading the way. She now can proudly and safely claim to add the title of Instructional Author to her list of challenging, but obtainable accomplishments. Connecting the dots here: She grew-up guided by her grandparents who were affected by the depression years. Her mother had to “do-it-all, be-it-all”. Had no male bread-winner-guy helping –in a time of war. No chance at all at a real job because of her age and military relocation rates. I can end by telling you this: She has put pen to paper to bring to you “Experience In The Personal Finance Area” because 95% of how she feels is to give back to others the knowledge she has had to earn and learn because of how tough it is.
