This post World War II story chronicles the lives of Matt and Rachel Williams as they leave the big City and settle in the suburbs of Long Island, New York. Between the back yard barbecues, and neighborhood get-togethers they encounter those who will become dear friends and loved ones while also being under the threat of someone who is out to destroy their relationship. They experience loss, tragedy, joys and heartaches which become the fabric of the Williams family history. They are exposed to the ugliness of anti-Semitism, and misinterpreted implications. Through it all the story is told by several family members as they "take the microphone" to give the reader their own perspective as the pages turn. Mineola, the icon of a simpler life, with ever present family values, is the Town where the author spent her childhood and which becomes the central figure in this and the upcoming books in the Long Island New York trilogy.

From the Author:

Can publishing a book be a dream come true?  If you've been writing for years and years, the answer is yes!  I was directed to participate in the National Novel Writing Month challenge a couple of years ago; the goal is to write 50,000 words in 30 days.  NaNoWriMo has attracted writers all over the world, with thousands of people spending the month of November churning away first drafts.  Finally, complete and polished Welcome to Mineola is my first published book and it is literally making my dreams come true.  I'm editing the second book in my Long Island, New York trilogy right now, Chained to Mineola and I am about to begin the third volume as part of this year's NaNo drill.  I hope you enjoy these books.  I was born and raised in the iconic town of Mineola.  Join me there, beginning in the late 1940's with a story of a family you will soon hold dear.

From the Back Cover:

The late 1940's were full of promise for America.  Returning servicemen left the big cities with their families and established a lifestyle of block parties, barbeques and card games creating the backdrop of the new Americana.  Post-WWII baby boomer children ran through the new neighborhoods, rode bikes, played hopscotch, and roller skated down the sidewalks of suburbia.
Matt and Rachel Williams settled in the new bedroom community of Mineola, on New York's Long Island.  They made new friends, raised their growing family, lost loved ones, and fought the green-eyed monster as one close acquaintance threatened the very core of their relationship.  They contended with anti-Semitism; a harrowing experience when a child disappeared under the waves at Jones Beach; and then, on the day before Thanksgiving an event occurred that unraveled the life of the Williams family forever.  Over the years, several family members "take the microphone" to share their own perspectives, transporting the reader to a less technical and perhaps more authentic period of time.
