Like most kids who grew up in the small town of Silver Falls, Toby Hoffman heard all the scary stories about monsters living in the neighboring woods of the Umatilla Indian Reservation. Now a teenager, he knows the tales are made up to keep the town's children from wandering where they aren't wanted.
Then his best friend, Nate, wakes up covered in blood in the reservation woods, with no recollection of whose blood it is or where it came from. Soon after, Silver Falls is beset by a series of brutal attacks and Toby begins to wonder if one of the fables he was told as a child might be true.
With the help of his Native American neighbor, Rachel Chochopi, he goes looking for answers. Before long, the two teenagers begin making startling discoveries about some of their friends, family members, and even a few all-too-real monsters.
"A few characters blurt obscenities, and gory parts abound--there's definitely a lost limb or two. But it's more exhilarating than horrific thanks to a speedy tempo and humor." - Kirkus Reviews

From Publishers Daily Reviews:
This is a blockbuster of a book, bringing back all the vibrant horror of the classic old werewolf films, but with a totally updated spin. The author clearly has a knack for creating heart-stopping scenes and highly realistic dialogue.
The kids act and feel like real-life teens, with all the angst and drama attendant to that age. You'll cringe and cower, then cheer the good guys on until the last silver bullet finds its mark.
James Drummond was born in Arlington Heights, IL and graduated from DePauw University with a bachelor's degree in English writing. A lifelong horror fan, he's attempting to put a new spin on familiar folklore with his Shadow Tales series.
