K.C. Wanamaker graduated as a Chancellor Scholar from UNCP with a double major in English Literature and History where she attempted to satisfy a lifelong quest for knowledge. She spent her last thirty years in Fayetteville, North Carolina where acquaintance with the military was an important part of everyday life. After graduating earlier from high school in southern California, writing seemed a difficult and far-fetched dream but with time and persistence that would change. Later, she was to raise six children with the help of a loving and patient husband while writing Maelstrom. Writer’s Ink Guild was to instill in her a confidence in writing both poetry and prose. The novel is the result of countless hours of research in public and private libraries as well as the internet. Many interviews were conducted with people in diverse fields such as parapsychology, the news network and law enforcement. She drew on childhood memories of spending time in Nevada and Mexico that added flavor to the novel’s setting. There is, of course, some pure fantasy that is the result of a vivid imagination.
