9781505958034: Jesus, a Life: Daily Reflections on the Gospel of Luke

In 365 reflections, readers encounter the life of Jesus as recorded in the Gospel of Luke. Author Daniel Plasman paints a portrait of Jesus that challenges entrenched assumptions of power and privilege, and prods one to reconsider who's in and who's out. These one-page, daily meditations are for people who deeply love Jesus, God, and the church, but they are more purposely directed to those who have given up on all three because of the harm authority figures and religious institutions have inflicted on them. This is a long list that includes those who have been devalued, discouraged, and denounced because of their gender or gender expression, their life experiences, their marital status, their ethnicity, their race, their addiction, their disability, their sexual orientation, their politics, their doubts, or their questions. Plasman, a minister and photographer, combines biblical scholarship with wit, insight, and social commentary. Additionally, more than two dozen black and white photographs invite readers to a deeper experience of Jesus. Whether you are spiritual but not religious, religious but not spiritual, both or neither, this collection offers fresh ways for you to continue living your faith or to begin the journey anew.
