PRAISE FOR BORN FRUSTRATED
“Michael Essington writes like a man on a mission from hell. His memoir evokes the same hard-bitten, hard-earned wisdom that marked departed giants like Jim Carroll and Eddie Little. Unlike them, Essington has survived to tell his harrowing story. Born Frustrated serves up a world of violence and drugs with style and heart. It’s a book had to be lived before it could be written. ”
-Jerry Stahl, author of Permanent Midnight
“Essington’s first two books, Last One To Die and Life Won’t Wait, are fantastic. This one is even better.”
-James Frey, author of A Million Little Pieces and My Friend Leonard
“Michael Essington is of the old school. He writes in a compelling manner that will suck you in and spit you out. Born Frustrated is not so much an autobiography but a manifesto of angst and youthful rebellion. Don’t miss out.”
-Chris Walter, author of SNFU: What No One Else Wanted to Say
“Born Frustrated is what a good writer shall carry as his curse while on earth. Essington takes us on a stroll down memory lane. Love for his deceased father, a trip to ‘a scene from deliverance’ to gain custody of his daughter is vividly described. I turned the last page, recalling the boyhood charm in worn novels we used to read and hold dear. Essington captures that. He has a natural talent for telling us about his past in a delightfully honest way. No anger, no undercurrent of hate. This story is pure, and by that, I mean truly gifted writing about Americana at its best.”
-Zoe Hansen, Writer, Advocate & Fashion Designer
“I await the next book, I love your “punk rock” writing style, It’s like being a shoulder cam over parts of your life.”
-Rikk Agnew, The Adolescents, Christian Death
