This is a newly printed second edition of George MacDonald's classic, The Wise Woman.
There are two girls: one a princess and the other a daughter of humble shepherds. Both girls have been terribly spoiled and are quite conceited, but in completely different ways. Their self-destructive pride is challenged by the mysterious Wise Woman who takes them on adventures and exposes them to various trials in order to help the two girls know themselves more deeply. But will it work?
As many people have reflected, this book is a bit like a mirror. MacDonald, through the two young girls in this story, beautifully bears our hearts on these pages. The truth is that we cannot find the Kingdom of God within us (Luke 17:21) if we are unwilling to fight the dragons, traverse through the dark realms, and slay the poisonous beasts in our hearts that have aided in “nurturing” our dismal condition.
A note about this edition:
All Gracebeard Publishing books that are taken from a public domain work are proofread in their entirety to fix formatting/spelling issues. The purpose is to present a text as close to the original as possible. This is the second edition prepared in July 2017.
Please note There are numerous sellers who publish this title and the "featured" publisher changes from time to time. Many of the negative reviews you see are for other sloppily published editions. The Gracebeard Publishing edition was compared to the original 1875 edition of this book for formatting and textual accuracy.
