9781507632932: More Than a Hat: Memoirs of The World War Two Generation

Wars throughout history are fought by thousands against thousands. Usually we know the politics, the President, and the "famous" contributers. We are educated of the end results; but what is seldom reflected upon is that the thousands consisted of an accumulation of ones. Individuals, men and women, who had their own lives with their own friends, and families - which were set aside for the priority of fighting for their country. More than a Hat is a compilation of interviews of such individuals. They're not famous. Their names are not blazen in history books. But it wasn't the Generals, or the President, that won the war; it was the people. The singular, common, unacknowledged people. The people who surround us today in restaurants, and bus stops; taking with them quietly everything they know. If we want to truly understand our history from the ground up - we should listen. 100% of author proceeds from this publication go to Veterans' charities so that the many soldiers are taken care of - as they should be - and some can go back to their battlegrounds, wherever they may be, and have the closure they need to find their final peace with it.

About the Author:

“Born into the wrong Generation” her grandmother used to say. Born in Seattle, Washington in 1978, Hydee Hernandez is the granddaughter of a World War II B24 waist-gunner POW, as well as the niece of a highly-decorated Vietnam veteran. Although she never truly knew either of them she proudly incorporates their legacy within her great admiration of Veterans. Hydee attributes the start of this fascination to her grandmother, Gloria Jean Vineall, who influenced her love of “the Greatest Generation” through exposure to the music, fashion, and the integrity of the era. It was in grade school that she and her father would watch a Vietnam-based television show which began a complete immersion into gratitude towards veterans; fully realizing their bravery, and sacrifices. She decided to spend the rest of her life making a point to thank them when she had the opportunity with a goal to be sure they know they’re not forgotten. Hydee’s passion extends to all veterans of every generation, but her heart and soul belong to the WW2 Generation because for her they were the epitome of everything she admires - bravery, honor, and integrity. 100% of author profits go to Veteran's Charities across the U.S.

Book Description CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform. Paperback. Book Condition: New. This item is printed on demand. Paperback. 134 pages. Dimensions: 11.0in. x 8.5in. x 0.3in.When studying history not many people have a passion for are the people that made it all happen; the people that risked everything they had and everything they were to bring those action plans to life. The author is one of those people who is more concerned about the individuals who made the sacrifice than the actual outcome. She has dedicated her time to finding the brave men and women of World War ll and preserving their stories; she has recorded soldiers who had stations here at home, men and women who contributed as children, and anyone who had a story to tell she loaned her ear. Her love, respect, admiration, and dedication to the brave generation that brought life to the American ideals is a fleeting concept that we are losing faster and faster. The generation that stood for what we idealize most as a society is leaving us at a pace in which is overwhelming, and this book is an attempt to give those people a voice to be heard and their place in history. All profits and proceeds from the purchase of this publication are donated directly back to the veterans through various charities, in honor of the veterans and their contributions. This item ships from La Vergne,TN. Paperback. Bookseller Inventory # 9781507632932
