In this autobiography, M. Melih Gördesli advocates for a better understanding of the immigrant experience while offering comprehensive insight into their lives. He inspires us to reflect and follow his train of thought through memories and flashbacks, but also by means of provocative thought experiments. In doing so, he addresses contemporary and highly sensitive issues related to integration, politics, and the media and critically comments while offering possible solutions.

M. Melih Gördesli was born on April 16, 1986, in Lüdenscheid, a small city in Germany. A few years later when Gördesli was still a child, the family decided that they had to move and emigrated to Austria. Due to his origins and social prejudice, he was confronted daily with discrimination and many obstacles – at school, at work, or in public. Thus he learned early on to single-handedly fight for his existence and acceptance.
