About the Author:

Jeremiah Spence is the founder of the Journal of Virtual Worlds Research in 2008 and was the Editor-in-Chief from 2008 until 2010 Jeremiah has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Latin American and Brazilian Studies from the University of Texas at Austin, a Masters of Arts degree in Communication Theory from the University of Texas at Austin and Doctor of Philosophy in Communication and Media Studies from the University of Texas at Austin. Additionally, Jeremiah has studied and researched at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México in Mexico, Fundação Getulio Vargas in São Paulo, Brazil, Universidade Federal da Bahia in Salvador, Brazil, and the Universidade de São Paulo in São Paulo, Brazil. Jeremiah is co-editor and co-author of the book: Inequity in the Technopolis - Race, Class, Gender, and the Digital Divide in Austin – edited by Joseph Straubhaar, Jeremiah Spence, Zeynep Tufekci, and Roberta G. Lentz – published at the University of Texas Press in 2012.
