"This book was excellent and I couldn't put it down." [Amazon Review]
Romance. Suspense. One woman's wish for the ultimate do-over.
Ever wanted a do-over? Meredith Bryant does. She knew divorce would not be easy, but she never imagined the mess it could leave in its wake. Determined to erase a broken past, she relocates to a town once familiar and safe. With the help of an old friend and a new job, Meredith slowly rebuilds a life based upon her own terms. Her daughter, her home, her confidence, her entire world. Piece by piece, everything begins to fall into place.
That is until the reappearance of long-ago love Jacob Wilde. His presence not only unnerves Meredith, it forces her to confront the memory and current reality of the heart she once broke. And when her safety is threatened more than once, it becomes a sober reminder of how alone she truly is. Afraid, Meredith begins to question everything - her ability to parent, the decisions of her past, any plans for the future, and the people closest to her - until one terrifying night she collides head-on with her darkest fears and almost loses it all.

From the Author:

From NEVER LETTING GO:

Sadie bolted from the spot where she slept on the rug beneath the sink, her nails click clacking across the patterned kitchen tile. It was not until she released an ear-deafening bark that Meredith woke up.
Jumping from where she had fallen asleep on the sofa, Meredith stepped groggily through the lamp-lit room and into the unlit kitchen. Flipping on the light above the sink, she found Sadie crouched on her haunches, restless.
"What's the matter, girl?" she took a place beside the dog and looked out the back door. "Nothing there, Sadie. Time for bed." The dog stayed put, its snout so close it began to fog the glass.
"I need to find a window covering for that door," Meredith yawned and dimmed the kitchen light.
Stepping into the living room, she reached for the lamp and switched it off. Now fully engulfed in the dark, she blindly felt her way down the hall to check on Tara. She missed the bright security lights that adorned the home she once shared with Marcus. Due to the high property values, homeowners thought nothing of leaving their exterior lights on all night, every night. It made walking easier as there always seemed to be a spray of light coming in a window from somewhere. Here, they did not even have streetlights.
Meredith arranged the comforter over Tara, tucking the one raggedy stuffed doll the young girl refused to sleep without into her small arm. Tiptoeing back into the hall, she gently pulled the door closed when she heard another bark echo from the kitchen. Rushing through the rooms, she found Sadie in the exact same spot, ready to pounce, and the exterior motion detector light on.
A broken clay pot spread upon the back patio, its dirt and purple flowers scattered. Tara would be saddened to see their new planter destroyed so soon.
"What do you see, girl?" Meredith whispered to the dog. Sadie was obviously agitated, scraping her paws along the floor and whimpering. With a swift decision, Meredith unlocked the door and released the shepherd into the night.
She turned on the other exterior light, but its illumination only puddled into a small circle. Against the shadows, she watched the dog sniff the lawn and the thousand scents it held within the blades of grass. Sadie trotted in a methodical pattern across the yard finally coming up the tree line and stopping. She had been trained to relieve herself in the first few feet of trees but had not ventured in any other time.
"Is there something there," Meredith whispered to the silent air, and this time it was her breath clouding the glass. "Please Sadie, just be stopping because you were trained right."
As if hearing the words of her master, the dog took a few hesitant steps in between the gnarled trunks, relieved herself, and returned to the back patio. With a rapid motion, Meredith opened the door and let the dog in. Wiping dew from the shepherd's paws with an old towel, she talked in an even tone and the dog licked her face. "Good girl, Sadie. You did the right thing."
Meredith stood, debating what to do. She would be too alert now to sleep, of that she was sure. And since she had been on the phone with him the last time the light was triggered, her thoughts turned to Marcus.
Perhaps she could call him, she wondered with a glance at the stovetop clock. A little after midnight. He would be in bed most likely. Or out if the mood struck him. Besides, it was not as if he could do anything.
She wished there was somebody she could call. A neighbor. A friend. Bud? Joseph? Her karate instructor? These were the only men she knew even remotely but none well enough to call so late, especially over something so ridiculous.
After years of living with someone else, Meredith was slowly becoming accustomed to being alone. She was also pleasantly surprised to find she enjoyed the freedoms it carried, not needing to account to a parent or roommate or husband. No one to answer to. No one to question her.
But on the other side of liberty came the absence of a companion. There was no shoulder to cry on when the day proved too difficult. No person to share the triumphs. No one to protect her. Or Tara.
And now there was this. As she reached to turn off the back porch light, Meredith tried her best to believe it was another animal searching for food. Yet as she peered one final time over the yard, she noticed the indents in the tall grass, resembling the tracks of something, or someone, much larger.
