So you think that farming is the simple life? As a teenager transplanted from the city of Portland, Oregon, our hero discovered just how little he knew about life on a farm. There is humor in every situation if you know where to look. In the Farm Idiot's case, he didn't have to look- he just fell into them!

Bruce Birtchet was born in Portland, OR, in 1937. He spent his child hood in the Portland area, then moved out to a farm in nearby Wilsonville, while a teenager. The events in this book are based mostly on his personal experience during that time. Failing in the farming business, he eventually had to settle for life as an in-demand plastic injection mold engineer. Throughout his adult life, Bruce has always loved to tell stories, some true, some made up. He has told these stories to his children and grandchildren, but only recently thought of writing them down at the tender age of 78. Bruce currently lives in Scappoose, OR, with Dorothy, his wife of 55 years.
