Having no family and a jar full of money from her dying grandmother, eighteen year old Emily Larson leaves the Missouri Ozarks and joins a company of wagons heading west. Despite the hardships and uncertainties of the Oregon Trail, Emily's dream of that 'better life' remains. After meeting fellow traveler, the handsome Jake Hargrove, her life is never the same. As his kindness toward her grows, Emily's heart is awakened to new and unfamiliar feelings. Despite their growing attraction for each other, their differing social standing is a major hurdle, especially when arriving at Fort Laramie. It's here Emily feels the hurtful prejudice of Harriet, Jake's sister. After Jake assures Emily of his feelings for her, all plans are changed when she is captures by the Indian, White Feather. Alone and desperate to escape, Emily cries out to the only One who knows her every sorrow. Despite the wise words of her grandmother, Emily has trouble believing God has a special plan for her life. Yet, after fleeing White Feather, Emily comes to understand God's Grace and Goodness when she finds those who'll again change the course of her life. When Emily's dream of becoming a 'proper lady' and finding the end of her rainbow is fulfilled, will Jake again find her? How will Jake's life of solitude and hard work in Oregon, ever connect with Emily in California? Rainbow's End brings to life believable characters, historical settings and happenings of the old west. This fast paced adventurous tale of those early pioneers is sure to enhance conversation between young and old around the family's dinner table.

About the Author:

It was 2008, while riding the train across the prairie of eastern Montana, when this author visualized the challenges of those early settlers. With that in mind and her laptop in hand, Doris began writing Rainbow's End. In this, her 7th novel, she once again creates a suspenseful tale of romance and adventure with heart-warming scenes. While dramatizing the events of this historical era, Doris E Bernhardt uniquely blends the inspired truth of God's Word with her fictional characters and settings. Drawing from her own life experiences and enduring faith, Doris found her passion for writing when needing a stress reliever at night, after working in a large AZ hospital. From poetry, short stories and finally a novel in 2002, she continues to write uplifting and inspiring tales of intrigue.
