Saad the Meerkat, Babysitter and Teacher is an informative picture book for children ages 3-8. This beautifully illustrated book depicts, in a cunning and child-like way, where and how meerkats live. The book draws a parallel between human family relationships and meerkat family relationships. The meerkats inhabit Africa and therefore, have African names. The illustrator chose to dress them in beautifully colorful African clothing. The meerkat children learn about chores, responsibility and family living as will the young reader. They will find out that things do not always turn out as we expect.

As the author of Saad the Meerkat, Babysitter and Teacher, I cannot write about myself without also writing about the illustrator. Pamela Price is my oldest and dearest friend. We met when we were still preschoolers. We grew up together in Lowell, Massachusetts and although today, we live many miles apart, we still keep in touch. I grew up and moved to New Hampshire where I have made my home with my husband and our two sons, who are now grown up. Twenty five years ago, my husband and I opened a childcare center, which is where I spend most of my time. At about the same time that I moved to New Hampshire, Pamela moved to California, married and had two children. She later began a landscaping and gardening business. Pamela is a talented artist in every sense of the word. Today, both Pamela and I enjoy spending time with our grandchildren.
