Safe Swallowing With Dysphagia: A Puree Cookbook For Dysphagia-Related Lifestyles was compiled for people facing dysphagia who need basic easy-to-make puree recipes. Although recipes do not indicate calorie counts or have a nutrition breakdown, they do provide a resource to be able to get into the kitchen and prepare dysphagia-appropriate meals. These are the recipes I prepared for my mother. They helped her. I wrote this puree cookbook as a promise to her and a labor of love, in an effort to help others.
In addition to puree recipes, I’ve included information about pureed foods and beverages for dysphagia, a listing of online resources for dysphagia, a list of support groups and a list of online resources for conditions that can be affected by dysphagia. Also included is information with lists of dysphagia’s possible causes, signs, and symptoms. There is an extensive bibliography of sources that I used in the research and writing of this puree cookbook.
This book is great! I love how the author uses her own experiences to help families comprehend this very overwhelming condition known as dysphagia. Sharon’s personal knowledge helps families to understand the day to day difficulties in providing nourishing home made purée meals.
