Review:

5.0 out of 5 starsDelightful and Charming Novella By WindTrailPublishing on August 30, 2015Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase This wonderful novella follows the story of the very conservative Eloise Dowager and her journey as she finds herself volunteering her services to provide a lunch for the homeless, or the "unhoused." This charming story also follows Danielle Miller, a woman who found happiness in the most unlikely of places and an unconventional friendship with Mrs. Dowager. The Conservative Congregant is a delightful Christian novel, but it can be enjoyed by readers of all faiths and ages.

5.0 out of 5 starsThe Conservative Congregant learns the power of forgiveness. By Bret McCormick on April 18, 2016Format: Kindle Edition Life is full of small blessings, if you look for them. I received one at the North Texas Book Festival in Denton, TX a week ago. When author Paula Walker Baker was giving a one minute spiel at the microphone, she made eye contact with me. Later, she said I was the "friendly face in the crowd" that helped her stay focused. (Evidently Paula is one of the millions of people a little uncomfortable with public speaking.) Paula offered me a copy of her book, if only I'd read it. I agreed and told her I'd leave a review. Here it is...

Eloise Dowager, the Conservative Congregant, has a secret (and not just that her meatloaf will make her husband Edward do anything she wishes!) Eloise is a basically good person, a dedicated Christian, wife and mother, but more than a little withdrawn and judgmental. Surprising even herself, she agrees to prepare a meal for 100 homeless people at the City of Hope inner-city congregation. Once she's made that commitment her life begins to change. She makes a new friend, Danielle, and starts to actually enjoy life again. She finds relief from the terrible burden she's been carrying for decades -- her secret -- and the ability to forgive herself. And God has an even better surprise in store for Eloise.

This is a well-written, heart-warming tale that is easy to read and enjoy. Very inspirational! I think it would make a great Hallmark movie.

5.0 out of 5 starsDefinitely a must read for everyone By Adiv Reader on January 24, 2016Format: Kindle Edition I cannot express how much I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It kept me very uplifted happy I had a hard time setting the book down to go do any of my normal chores or go to bed. It is the type a book that just keeps you going all the way through.
