On Silica he was called Ulrich, and his wizened demeanor belied the 300 years he had lived here. He thought his destiny was to die leading the Freeborn against the evil Lord Technis. But now he was looking into the eyes of an acquaintance he had not seen since his people were evacuated from an environmentally devastated Earth three centuries before. Benjamin Roy had not aged a day. This revelation brought back a flood of memories from Earth: the Battle Grid, his work on the Sleeping Beauty project, the devastation of the Earth from the Nexus Portal experiments, and the Neo Holy Wars that eventually tipped the scales toward total global annihilation. Was this a sign from the universe? Did his destiny lie on a different path? Perhaps the journey to the White Spire was just the first step to some greater purpose, and Benjamin Roy’s impossible arrival was the catalyst that would start his people on their journey back to Earth.

Tom's experience with computer science, aerospace systems, aircraft armament systems, 3d modeling, animation, game design, video editing, photography, and technical writing, have all played a part in his latest creation. Silica:Transition is written to take you on an adventure with some young game developers and their friends and families. This story spans 300 years connecting two very different worlds; present day Earth and a planet called Silica. The news is filled with stories about the pervasive use of virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), and soon cross reality (XR) which is what my team of game developers is working on right now. We intend to create a game universe where players can access the game from any device in device context based ways. Access will include mobile smartphones, desktop PCs, game consoles, arcade systems, and even location-based entertainment venues like theme parks!
