This book documents the lives of Rev. William Hiram Stricklin, his wife Della, and their children. Rev. Stricklin was a dedicated clergyman in the Methodist Episcopal Church in Tennessee, and an astute businessman. His life was cut short by a tragic streetcar accident in Nashville in 1906. Della was left to provide for a large family in an era where there was limited public assistance. Her response was remarkable and immediate. Public and family documents, photos and maps are used to provide a chronological history of the family. Topics that are covered include: ·Rev. Stricklin's career in the church, dealings in real estate, his turnpike construction company, and his death. ·Della's administration or her husband's estate, her lawsuit against the streetcar company, her own dealings in real estate, and a brief second marriage and divorce. ·Tragic deaths of members of the immediate and extended family, and of their descendants.
