Ever have a job you hated with a passion yet you couldn't quit? Well so does the hero in this story! Excerpt from Hard Rocks: Why the hell am I doing this? For the money? What money?! I haven’t made shit this year! For the fame? I’m pushing rocks for God’s sake! For King or country? Are you kidding me? They are the ones who dumped me here in the first place. It will be a great honor and your country needs you! Bullshit squared! Again, I’m pushing rocks! I got up from my seat and walked over to the hatch and kicked it soundly three times. One! For me! Two! For you sticking me here! And three, because I felt like it! Damn, damn, damn! Venting over, I walked back to my seat and started my engine again for the fourth time today, and started driving. The floor bounced and swayed as I hit harder rock or larger boulders that the blade couldn’t handle very well. Shit! Who picked this damn site in the first place? Backing up, I lowered the blade again and hit the obstruction even harder. Bang! The whole cabin rocked and I was thrown out of my seat and onto the metal floor. Again! The air turned black as a foul stream of swear words poured out of my mouth and into the confines of my work space, and I do swear I saw it change!

Author Bio I was born during a Minnesota blizzard in December 1952 and I’ve been trying to warm up ever since. As such, I have spent time walking or flying over the Mosquito Coast of Honduras and the steamy foothills of Okinawa, Japan. Much of my life I was serving my country as an enlisted troop in the United States Air Force and this aided my efforts in getting warmed up. You see things differently from the seat of a plane or helicopter as well as your journeys as you walk across the mountain slopes of the Sierra Nevada and the Rocky Mountains. Now I sit huddled around the campfire on our twenty acres deep within the beautiful Missouri Ozark Mountains. But even here, I feel the need to touch the heart strings of others, and I write about what I know and have experienced throughout my life. I hope you find my journey with you to be a pleasant one. I currently live with my wife and too many cats and dogs totally off grid in Mountain View, MO.
