It has been rightly said that the best gift a father can give to his children is to love their mother. The relationship between parents do impact the growth and development of a child and parent rivalry is sure to have adverse effects. Nowadays, with multi-tasking, parents are always on a tight schedule which makes them less tolerant and more impatient. They are all the time anxious, worried or unhappy and are unable to have a hold on their emotions. For a relaxed life, they need to cultivate patience and move towards peace by being kind and generous in forgiveness of others. Otherwise, it would result in the end of a relationship that is most important to you. In “No Turning Back”, Swaminathan too is a victim of parent rivalry. Ever since his childhood, he had grown up seeing his parents quarrel with each other almost every other day. Unable to bear his father's harsh words, his mother leaves the house one day ; only to end her life. On learning about this, his father is traumatized so much so that he too ends his life impulsively. Having lost both his parents on the same day, Swaminathan moves to his aunt's house where he gets all the love. This makes him take a drastic decision in his life that if he ever marries, he would treat his wife with deep love and kindness. But as Fate would have it, Swaminathan is married to Shanthi who turns out to be of a nit picking character. Her nagging slowly gets on Swaminathan's nerves and he is now gripped with constant fear if he would also turn out to be violent like his father. A malicious act on her part makes Swaminathan so wild and he walks out of her life one day ; without as much as a word to anyone. Many years later, Ramanathan, a family friend of Shanthi bumps into him and is shocked beyond beliefs at the life Swaminathan is leading. Being a Philanthrophist, he is now bent on uniting the couple and tries to change Swaminathan's mind ? Does Ramanathan succeed in his endeavour ? “No Turning Back” is a short novel intended for those women out there who take their husbands for granted and wish to boss over them. They continuously keep carping at them ; wishing to have the last word always. The book is a warning to these nagging women ; for the angry outbursts of their henpecked husbands could get them no where. They better make haste in amending themselves in order to lead a smooth and peaceful marital life.
