A collection of poems by the new author Laura-Dawn MacGregor-Portlock. From her childhood memories through her teenage years and in to her early adult life these poems cover so many things, from loss of friendship to unrequited love, the gratefulness of sacrifice and the depth of her faith. Here are some of the things people have had to say about Laura-Dawn's work. "...Her Majesty was touched to see and that you included a poem you wrote to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the start of World War I. The Queen is most grateful for your kind words..."– The Honourable Mary Morrison Lady-in-Waiting to The Queen "A beautiful collection to treasure" Sophie Aldred (Doctor Who, Tree Fu Tom, Strangeness in Space) "Dear Laura-Dawn thank you for your lovely book, you have grabbed my heart and brought tears to my eyes at the very first quick reading" - Nic Lewis "I have been in tears with some of them, particularly Now my lad has gone to war." - Terena Tennent "The inclusion of poems related to the author’s faith also adds to the richness and variety and make this a poetry book that people from all walks of life will appreciate and enjoy." - Rev. Jane Robson, Rugby

Laura-Dawn was almost born on the Clifton Suspension Bridge just outside Bristol in the middle of a storm in October 1981. Luckily for Laura-Dawn and her Mum the paramedics were able to move the felled tree blocking the road and get to the Maternity hospital! The daughter of a Nurse and an RAF Radar Technician and little sister to her brother David, she grew up all over the place due to her dad’s job and doesn't really call anywhere home. Being of British and American ancestry she feels loyal to both countries and describes herself as an Anglo-American (with a bit of Welsh!) Laura-Dawn showed an interest in literature at a very young age thanks to having parents who loved books, as soon as she was able to speak her Mum started teaching her to read. From then on Laura-Dawn was addicted to books. She is a self-confessed sci-fi and fantasy geek, Doctor Who being top of her list of favourites. She is a born-again Christian and her faith is the focus of her life. Laura-Dawn is married to Sorina who is her best friend and soul mate. They live in Plymouth with their five cats Snowflake, Rusty-Bucket, Merlin, RiverSong and Timmy. Laura-Dawn can be followed on Twitter @ldmacp1981 and Facebook @ldmacp. All her books are available on Amazon in paperback and Kindle.
