A life-long fan of the fantasy genre, Mr. Tyson began writing fantasy short stories just after he was first able to put words together to form sentences. In the early years, his writing was mostly influenced by the Universal movie monsters like Dracula, Frankenstein, the Wolfman, among others. In high school, back in the 80s, he began playing the popular roleplaying games of the time. He is still lifelong friends with the majority of his roleplaying group today! It was also during his high school days that he began to read the works of David and Leigh Eddings, JRR Tolkien, and Terry Brooks. In the 90s it was Robert Jordan, Terry Goodkind etc. Mr. Tyson is quoted saying, “Fantasy authors? Yes, I am influenced by them all, but my writing style is uniquely my own.” When asked why he writes fantasy and science fiction, Mr. Tyson often replies: “Because I love fantasy. Besides, it’s not nearly as easy as it looks. Sometimes, when I am embroiled in the complexities of a difficult plotline, I think I should have taken up something easier, like Quantum Physics or String Theory. That’s just a joke, don’t send me letters!” Mark Tyson lives and writes in Texas.
