9781514839768: One Last Good Day: volume one, Eelings' Rare Earth (Volume 1)

On one last good day for Moira, Texas, the Wests, the Eelings, and the Duggans wake assuming it would be no different than the one before. Each family is pursued to the edge by the ghosts of their pasts. Jaden West is reckless, a disabled war veteran, abusing his meds as his trail of dirty secrets comes to light. Warren and Rich Eeling - money, guns, moving to Dallas, all become matters of life and death as their own daily battles with each other escalate. Pearl Duggan, a bitter widow, grows more resentful of her isolated life with her beautiful daughter injured 20 years ago in a horrific drill accident. Interested only in the stacks of cold hard cash the ex-con dangled in front of them, neither Ross Cowart nor Austin Merchant anticipated the horrific consequences that have just started to unwind. Just what constituted the cargo they agreed to smuggle for the sadistic leader of a brutal east European gang? The two wealthy businessmen, unwitting pawns who may become the architects of their small town’s destruction, and the citizens of Moira, find themselves unexpectedly swept into an extremist conspiracy to destabilize and infect their country.

Review:

Reviews for One Last Good Day (ebook)
5.0 out of 5 stars Incredible Characters inside of a Truly Magnetic Story
By Alanna on February 17, 2015Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase As a Texan myself, I was immediately drawn to this short series from author Kimberly Coleman. The series takes place in Texas, and presents each character therein with seemingly insurmountable challenges during the Contemporary US time period. From the very first page of this 95 page novel, I was intrigued and involved with the characters and the dynamics of their lives. Each one faces unique obstacles that range from financial problems to physical disabilities, all set against a background of disease and heartbreak. As the winner of many writing awards and with experience as a screenplay writer, it really is no surprise that Kimberly Coleman was able to manipulate my emotions through her powerful character development. I would highly recommend "One Last Good Day" to anyone who loves a good story.

5.0 out of 5 stars Full of excitement By Travis Glover on September 9, 2015Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase I really enjoyed this book, it was very well written and the author truly did a great job. "One Last Good Day" is about several families who are about to experience the most interesting and eventful day of their lives. For being a short story, this book still contains so much detail and excitement. I am also happy to see that this is only volume one. Overall, a very exciting read with great detail and I would highly recommend this book.
