In “The Art of War,” Sun Tzu, the Chinese general and military strategist, wrote, “Know your enemy and know yourself, find naught in fear for 100 battles. Know yourself but not your enemy, find level of loss and victory. Know thy enemy but not yourself, wallow in defeat every time.” In “The Tea Party Challenge: Understanding the Threat Posed by the Socialist Coalition,” Kevin Groenhagen argues that the socialists who now control the Democratic Party are defeating constitutionalists, including those in the Tea Party, on nearly every issue and front because the constitutionalists know neither their enemy nor themselves. Groenhagen, a descendant of American Revolution patriots Gov. Thomas Chittenden and U.S. Rep. Matthew Lyon, former Marine, and conservative activist (he provided the lead that exposed the fact that an Obamacare navigator in Lawrence, Kan., had an outstanding arrest warrant), provides the reader with a background on the ideals, principles, and values of the American Revolution. He also demonstrates how socialism is antithetical to those ideals, principles, and values. Groenhagen then discusses the individuals and organizations that make up the Socialist Coalition, shows how that coalition came to power in the United States, and outlines how he believes constitutionalists can regain that power. This exhaustively researched book includes over 1,800 endnotes and a 22-page index, making it perhaps the most thorough book on the modern socialist movement in America.

Kevin Groenhagen, a publisher in Lawrence, Kansas, grew up 15 miles upstream from Ronald Reagan's hometown of Dixon, Illinois. After graduating from high school, he served as an intelligence analyst with the United States Marine Corps from 1982 to 1986. He later earned degrees in International Relations and Southeast Asian Studies from Northern Illinois University, and attended graduate school at the University of the Philippines' Asian Center. A member of the Sons of the American Revolution, Kevin is a proud fifth great-grandson of U.S. Rep. Matthew Lyon, the first American imprisoned (unjustifiably) under the Sedition Act of 1798, and a sixth great-grandson of Thomas Chittenden, the first governor of Vermont. He laments the fact that these patriotic Vermonters have been replaced by the likes of Bernie Sanders and Howard Dean.
