Kim Fraser is a native Virginian and life-long educator. She has been raising and training animals for over 40 years. Her life took a turn in 1992 when she adopted her first greyhound, All My Money. Shortly after adopting Money, she was asked to become involved in Animal Assisted Therapy which led to a TV appearance on Animal Planet's "Breed All About It: Greyhounds". Kim was one of the founding members of SpiritKeepers, which later became Blue Gray Therapy Dogs, and was a key member in helping to dispense therapy to the families whose members were victims at the Pentagon after 9-11. She is the current Director of Blue Gray Therapy Dogs, a 100+ member therapy dog group. Kim is a Tester/Observer for Alliance of Therapy Dogs, where she tests potential new therapy dog teams to work in local schools, libraries, and hospitals. Kim is an officer of Greyhounds Rock Fredericksburg which raises money for canine cancer research. Her therapy dog partner, TJ, was the Spokes Dog for canine cancer research. TJ lived a very happy life on three legs for 39 months. He passed away in 2013. Some of the chemotherapy protocols that were used on TJ are now being used successfully on humans. Kim is a breeder of nationally and internationally award winning American Tan and Britannia Petite rabbits and is an avid beekeeper. Her previously published work includes articles in "Celebrating Greyhounds", "Domestic Rabbits", "The Tan Tribune", and "The Fuzzy Lop Digest".
Steve Hilker contributed the illustrations, layout and editing for TJ has a job! He is an author and freelance artist living in Fredericksburg, Virginia. Steve is the author of a highly acclaimed book series that teaches young children how to draw using his unique "5 Easy Shapes" method.
