The main character finds herself in the middle of her parents' divorce. Not only is she entering the very unsettling teenage years, but now she is faced with watching her mother and father creating separate lives. No one seems to want to help her with all of her very mixed emotions. She finds consolation in a very unusual place.

Kay Cocklin was raised in Central Maryland in the early 50s and 60s. After graduation from Westminster Senior High School, in Westminster, MD, she enrolled in college at Findlay College (now the University of Findlay, in Findlay, Ohio. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and spent thirty-five years in the classroom. Kay's husband was a career Army Chaplain, so she was able to teach all over the United States and Germany. She has taught every grade from Kindergarten through twelfth grade. Kay and her husband have three children and seven grandchildren.
