Oliver Marconi is a male model in the city of Cape Town. He meets Julie, a German model, at a Durum camping gear casting and cannot rid himself of the thought of her. He spends the following two weeks trying to see her, but to no avail. One day they meet again at another Durum casting, and Oliver struggles to hide his interest. A few days pass and on Monday morning he is called to his modeling agency and his agent informs him that he got the job for Durum. He sends Julie a message and it turns out that she too has gotten the job. The job spans over three days and it takes place in the small town of Villiersdorp, where discreetly, and through the work, he investigates the mercurial behaviour Julie as well as the world around him when he is with her. His only hope is that she loves him as he loves her. As their time rolls on together, her behaviour becomes less confusing, and they begin to develop a relationship, but it is never acknowledged, in fact it is hidden because Julie has a long-term boyfriend. It is only when the shoot is wrapped and now they have to say goodbye to each other when what was hidden is unraveled.

The author Luke Paul Kilian is my son. He is 19 today. His picture is on the cover. When he was 9 years old I had many complaints from his English teachers about his reading skills. He could not read properly and he was a stutterer. My wife and I sat many a night worrying about this child, as he was very kind and a super loving person. He also loved his animals and would rather spend time with the dogs than read. To cure the stuttering we sent him to a speech therapist. Although he had this speech impediment it did not bother him or hold him back in any way. He was always self assured and always spoke his mind in a crowd. He is very popular with his friends One thing Luke liked besides his animals and sport was CASH. That’s when I thought of a brilliant way to motivate him to read. I came home one night and offered him R5 for each page of his school textbook that he had to read. I came home the next evening and Luke had read 100 pages. So he said. I did not believe him and asked him questions about the 100 pages. Indeed he had read all 100 pages. Anyway I paid him his R500 immediately and left it at that. The next day I came home and he said that he read 125 pages. Once again I paid him. This was getting expensive! I then told Luke I would pay R2 a page. He accepted. I carried on paying him the R2 per page for the next 2 weeks. I was out of pocket by nearly R5000 by the end of the month. I then terminated the agreement with him. Guess what? He continued to read veraciously to this day. He really learned to enjoy reading. His English improved dramatically. His command of words sometimes stuns me. His English marks improved. He then developed an intelligent well thought out skill of writing speeches. All his friends and colleagues ask him regularly to write speeches for them. His speech writing is methodical and written with deep thought of the end goal. He has written speeches for some pretty important people as well. Although Luke was sportsman of the year in college he decided to make writing and acting his future. Luke plays a mean game of tennis and soccer. He has written movie scripts in Los Angeles and this is his first book. He is a South African with Italian heritage. ( I think this is what actually happened to him)
