I have made a living as a technical writer and state-licensed engineer for over five decades. I have a Professional Engineering License (#CU 3927) in the Quality Discipline. I have always been inquisitive, and a lover of the spoken and written word. Starting at a very, very young age, I was persistently relentless with the numerous questions, read an entire unabridged dictionary. It took me two years to do it, mostly during study hall. I highly recommend it; it's loaded with info on science, history and the arts. I have no idea why my fellow students regarded that as weird behavior. At Cape Canaveral during the 1960's I wrote procedures for Quality Control inspectors and engineers; later at the Kennedy Space Center I wrote maintenance manuals for the government (Corps of Engineers), and then, working as a Technical Writer for Grumman Aerospace on the Apollo Moon Project, I wrote procedures for astronauts for in-flight orbital operations on the LEM (Lunar Excursion Module). In the years since, I have worked as a design engineer, a Quality Engineer, a technical writer, and a Quality Assurance Manager. Now I've decided to go for it and revisit my long neglected career in freelance writing. I have the enviable status of a man on Social Security with a young, beautiful wife that works. Assuming that it's never too late, though, I've decided to take Mark Twain's advice: “Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” Sometime in the future I hope to gather enough skill and will to write about my life from 1950-1969, about the Korean War, my first marriage, and my work at Cape Canaveral and the Kennedy Space Center, if I can.
