This book is overflowing with lovely coloring pages. Each page features elegant flourishes, loops, petals, leaves, waves, and lots of stylish flair.
What you see on the cover is what you'll find inside. Lots and lots of different designs. Each of them is unique, but all are in the same style as the cover. Most have areas with intricate designs.
- 26 different pages, and each one was individually drawn by the author. No two are identical. All include intricate areas for detailed coloring.
- Six additional pages of simple coloring designs. Color them "as-is" or follow the author's suggestions to embellish them (with doodles) for a more personal effect.
- Four more pages -- two mandalas and two tiled patterns -- for times when you want the rhythm of repetition for extra calming effects.
Lovely Designs1 contains over 35 coloring pages, each printed on one side. Every page was individually hand-drawn by the author. This main section of this book contains 26 unique, full-page designs, with coloring art practically spilling off the pages, plus two pages each of mandalas and repeating patterns.
In addition, you can play with 6 "DIY" coloring pages. They're starter designs -- simpler drawings -- for you to color as-is, or embellish with doodles. (The author includes three pages of illustrated tips.)
Expect lots of pretty coloring designs similar to the cover. (The cover drawing is one of the inside pages.) Each coloring page was drawn separately by the author... a lifetime doodler and coloring enthusiast.
This is a fun book with a mix of detailed designs and simpler areas to color. No matter what your mood, if you'd like to relax with a coloring book that features real artwork, this may be the book you've been looking for.

This book was my most fun book to design, so far.
Unlike some coloring books that rely on computer-generated art, I draw my coloring pages (by hand, with pen and paper) with a certain design idea in mind. None of the pages are identical, but they share many of the same kinds of elements as you see on the cover: Swirly leaves, petal-like loops, long, winding stems, and so on. (Few look exactly like plants or flowers. The garden was simply my inspiration.)
Also, part of the way through my artwork, I realized that some coloring enthusiasts might like to embellish their own, similar pages. So, I included copies of six of my earliest, un-decorated pages. And, I added two pages of how-to tips, plus a full page of doodle-type examples you can copy... if you like. (It's okay to color those six simpler pages just as they are. They feature the same kind of art as the rest of the book, with fewer details.)
The cover design shows the kind of art that's inside this book. Each page has intricate design areas as well as more open areas to color.
If, like me, you use coloring books to relax, and you love to color pretty pages, I think you'll like this book.
Aisling D'Art loves to draw and she loves coloring books. This is her fourth coloring book, and her most interactive one, so far. She's a third-generation artist (her mom did all the artwork for the original Disney "Fantasyland" board game), and she's a founding member of the Coloring Group. Since 1995, she's been one of the original art bloggers, as well.
