Willowwind is a lovely Civil War era bed and breakfast that sits on a hill above an ancient cemetery filled with Civil war graves and strange stone sculptures made long ago by a woman once feared to be a witch–perhaps once murdered by the townspeople for being one. Willowwind is run by a loving couple, Adrian and Caroline Stone, and welcomes guests every weekend. But since Caroline’s beloved father, Edward Winter, died and was buried in that cemetery, Willowwind is also haunted. Haunted by a long dead Civil War era vampiress, Lilith, who believes the man, Adrian, is her reincarnated soldier/lover and will do anything to have him, body-heart-and soul, for her own again, no matter how many she must kill to have him. But Adrian’s wife, Caroline, along with the help of the ghost of her dead father, will do anything to make sure that doesn’t happen.

In 2010 I'd had a very long dry spell...8 long years without selling a book (after having had nine books, a novella and seven short stories published since 1984)...until I finally sold an end-of-days horror novel, A Time of Demons and Angels, to a small publisher. Demons. Angels. The end of the world. Not too religious, more of a layman's viewpoint. When I got the full rights back in 2015 I self-published it along with my other 21 novels (some going back to 1984).
I'd also finished another horror novel, more a romantic horror tale about a witchy vampiress resurrected from her Civil War era tomb and now haunting her old home, an atmospheric lovely bed and breakfast run in the present by a loving husband and wife. The wife has to fight to save her husband's life when the vampiress believes he's her reincarnated soldier/lover from the Civil War days and tries to take him back for her own. A real eternal love story. A dangerous love triangle. Of course dead drained corpses show up all over the place. I called that book The Woman in Crimson and originally published it with that same small publisher in 2010; and now I've also self-published it in 2015. Of all my 22 novels The Woman in Crimson is one of my favorites. My evil vampiress isn't just a vampire, but a witch...who in the end becomes a ghost. Yeah, all three. But, as in most of my books, love (in this case between a devoted wife and her husband who run the haunted B&B) wins out against the evil. I like those good-versus-evil-and-the-good-wins themes. Always have. It's universal, I believe.
Kathryn Meyer Griffith has been writing for over 44 years and has had 23 novels published since 1984; her Dinosaur Lake novels and Spookie Town Mysteries (Scraps of Paper, All Things Slip Away and Ghosts Beneath Us) are her best-sellers. Though she’s been an artist, and a folk/classic rock singer in her youth with her brother Jim, writing has always been her greatest passion, her butterfly stage, and she’ll probably write stories until the day she dies or until her memory goes. 2012 & 2014 EPIC EBOOK AWARDS *FINALIST* for The Last Vampire and Dinosaur Lake.
