In CITY OF PAIN, the second part of the "City Series" trilogy, NYPD detectives Frank Mallory and Alberto "Gunner" Gennaro find themselves struggling with the aftermath of their last big case (seen in CITY OF WOE). Professionally, publicly, personally, no one was left unscathed. As the detectives try to piece their lives back together, outside forces work to tear them apart all over again. Vengeful madmen, vicious superior officers, relents media, domestic pressures, and personal losses twist their world. Meanwhile, the lives of a group of victimized girls hang in the balance, with the time the detectives have to save them ticking away... Inspired by Dante's "Purgatorio", CITY OF PAIN's fast-paced action, intriguing investigations, and pure New York characters makes this novel pulse with life and soul.
