Himanshu is a marketing professional who drops in Kolkata (India) for some official work and check in at 'Hotel Best Friends.' He encountered an old man in early seventies who is staying in the same hotel room for the last forty years. The owner of the hotel claims himself to be the best friend of the old man. But the mysterious old man has a different story with a gorgeous lady, who often visits him in Room No 23. Nobody had a clear a picture about the old man. The only common thread between the outside world’s perceptions was that they considered the old man as a good human being. A messiah of the poor. But nobody knew much about him except the hotel owner. When Himanshu showed his eagerness to the hotel owner about the old man, he fixed up a meeting with the old man. After normal chit chat the old man unfolded his journey which dates back to 1963 when he first came to Kolkata for studies and fell in love with a girl. People fall in love and come out of it. But the old man (Abhinash Baruah) failed to do so. It was a love of a lifetime. The story is not only about failed love at the age of 18 but also speaks of a friendship between four guys who met in college hostel and their life was a crazy ride. People say love is joy, love is painful, etc. But I would say love is Room No 23.
