Our spirit awakens when we attempt to leave a footprint along someone else's path by sharing the wisdom of our own journeys. Writing this book has been a gift—not only for me, but also for my children. I have been able to give a voice to my experiences and the lessons I've learned. As a parent, I want to pass along the kind of advice that my children can use as they grapple with adversity. Unearthing these experiences has sharpened my perspective on the path I have walked so far. My ordinary days have been filled with moments of defiance, audacity, and joy. These essays speak of lessons learned through partings, loss, marriage, divorce, and friendship, as well as fear, kinship, and even running marathons. Perhaps my children—and anyone who reads these insights—can draw some wisdom from my own lessons, should they ever find themselves lost in their own journeys. Perhaps you can relate to a particular story simply because it shares a melody with one of your own. We are all intertwined by the common experience of life—we all want to mend the broken pieces of our soul and bring forth new beginnings until we get it right.
