    " I've never studied Yoga, but have always been curious about it. I'd say I knew a little about a few poses before I read this. Yamashita is easy to understand and free of excessive explanation. Some of the poses and routines did get a little more difficult than I thought they would in a basic tutorial. The instructions are clear and the illustrations are appropriate. I learned a few things - like did you know that there is such a thing as Yoga for the face? It isn't as complex as I thought, though - the author easily describes the basic routines and a series of poses, and even goes briefly into dietary recommendations for the beginning student. The book probably isn't a substitute for formal instruction, but certainly would be helpful in building basic flexibility. I certainly learned a few things.It's a very fast read the first time, perhaps an hour, but then I went back and did a few of the poses. I think it would be easy to take several days going over each of them. This is smoothly written and well edited with only one or two grammatical errors. There are a few problems with spacing and tabs in the Kindle version, especially in places where the author has used numbered lists, but it isn't terribly distracting.Yoga for Beginners won't make the reader into an expert yogi, but it's worth the time for anyone who wants to see what the sport/art is all about.
