New York City, 1933: King Kong is premiering at Radio City Music Hall, and Fay Wray is about to become the most famous actress on earth. So what's she doing hanging around a rundown Manhattan speakeasy? This Hollywood scream queen has come to see Jimmy Quinn, a limping tough guy who knows every gangster in New York-and does his best to steer clear of them all. A blackmailer has pictures of a Fay-lookalike engaged in conduct that would make King Kong blush, and Fay's movie studio wants the threat eliminated. Jimmy tries to settle the matter quietly, but stopping the extortion will cut just as deeply as Fay's famous scream, ringing from Broadway all the way to Chinatown.

Review:

“If you love the old movies, the old stars, and remember when films were photography, not CGI, Mayo’s highly amusing visit to the golden days of the thirties tinsel biz in Jimmy and Fay (Fay as in Wray) is a must!” —Stephen Hunter, bestselling author of Point of Impact

Praise for the Jimmy Quinn Mysteries
“[Mayo] persuasively portrays such real-life mobsters as Meyer Lansky and Lucky Luciano in a tale sure to appeal to fans of Max Allan Collins’s gangster historicals.” —Publishers Weekly on Jimmy the Stick

“Imagine an Agatha Christie country-house murder mystery soaked in booze and violence, with the detective played as a cold, pragmatic street fighter instead of some effete Belgian fop.” —Mystery Scene on Jimmy the Stick

“Fascinating tales of real crimes and criminals during the 1920s and ’30s.” —Booklist on Everybody Goes to Jimmy’s
