"Reason and the Sacred" alludes to the relation between Philosophy and Sacred Doctrine, and between reason and faith, considering both as faculties of the human psyche, one not negating the other vis--vis the immanent reaches of the psyche as to its purpose, but one enhancing the other in the perfection of each's domain. Faith is thus not antithetical to reason except if employed on the domain of the latter, to attain certainty and experience truth. The latter part of this compilation, namely Book III, includes "Ancient Ethiopia: Gold beneath Wax," an essay on the history of conceivably the oldest civilization, following a meditative and intuitive writing on faith, contemplation and mystic spirituality, and a religio-anthropological and historical essay about the ancient Church of Abyssinia.

About the Author:

Tedla M. Worede is an Ethiopian theistic philosopher of the Orthodox Christian faith who was born in New York City, has lived in Ethiopia's capital city, Addis Abeba, traveled in Europe, and wrote this compilation when residing in Denton, Texas, where he studied and earned his bachelor's degree in Philosophy, and Social Science, at the University of North Texas. He studies Philosophy from a wide and multicultural approach, and considers the relation between mystic Religion and Philosophy in his writing, as well as unconventional insights in ancient History. He knows at least three languages and reads classical Ethiopic, an ancient sister language of Arabic, Hebrew, Aramaic and Akkadian, in which many important and unique historical and ancient biblical texts, some untranslated, have been preserved. His writing is influenced by the French language, in which he is fluent, and his ideas are cultivated by Afro-Asiatic linguoconcepts. His father is the Right Livelihood Award laureate and scientist, Dr. Melaku Worede.
