Cantique de Noël (A Christmas Carol), également publié en français sous les titres Un chant de Noël, Chanson de Noël ou Conte de Noël, est le premier et le plus célèbre des contes écrits par Charles Dickens. Rédigé en même temps que Martin Chuzzlewit et paru en décembre 1843 chez Chapman and Hall avec des illustrations de John Leech, il est considéré comme « son œuvre la plus parfaite ». Aussitôt, Thackeray le salue comme un « bienfait national ». Acclamé par les critiques comme par le public, sa popularité n'a jamais faibli. Son protagoniste, Scrooge, reste sans doute le personnage dickensien le plus universellement connu et, grâce à ce livre, Dickens, incarné en une sorte de Père Noël pour le monde anglo-saxon, a été décrit comme l'« inventeur » de la fête qui lui est associée.
