BloodTrilogy Book Two
For the fifth night in a row, Keagen woke to the sound ofGhost shouting. He expected this would happen once she accepted her time as ahunter was over. Jumping from his bed, he rushed to her room and quicklyattempted to wake her.
"Net, spasibo! Ya ne khochu!"
Keagen roused Ghost from the nightmare. She lay on the bedglaring up at him. Sweat soaked her hair and skin as she stared wide-eyed,breathing heavy.
"You're okay. I've got you."
Smoothing wet hair from around her face, he perched on theedge of the bed. This wasn't the first time. It was a nightly occurrence andKeagen knew all too well what it was like. He'd been through it. Only timelessens the frequency, but they don't stop completely.
Ghost closed her eyes and nodded. "I'm okay. Thank you."
"Yeah." She frowned. "I don't know who the man is, but hekeeps on at me... I wish it would stop." Ghost wiped away the sweat from herforehead.
"It will. It just takes time." Keagen smiled. "You want meto get you something to drink?"
Shaking her head, Ghost sighed. "No, I'm good."
"Okay, let me know if you need anything." He squeezed hershoulder then moved to leave. She grabbed his arm.
"Did you find out anything about me yet?"
"Nah, I'm still trying to hack my way in. I don't know whyit's proving difficult. I must be losing my touch." He smirked and pulled away."Don't worry, I won't give up. This fucker is annoying me now so I'm gonnacrack it or die trying." Keagen chortled and started to leave. He hovered in thedoorway as he slowly pulled the door. "Try and get some rest."
Grabbing a glass of milk from the refrigerator, he settledback in bed. Hacking was one of his most precious skills and he wasn't going tolet this one get the better of him.
Opening the laptop, he thought he'd have another go, despitethe mind-crunching pain in his head telling him to rest. For the last two days,a headache plagued him. He couldn't put his finger on it, but he wasn't on topof his game and it annoyed the crap out of him. Keagen didn't do half measures. He liked to win. Always. The determination to get into the encoded files wasthe most important item on his to-do list. For whatever reason, the coding onGhost's files was different to the others he'd hacked. If it took him allnight, he didn't care; he needed this information for himself and not justGhost.
It bugged the crap out of him why she spoke Russian when shewas dreaming, and yet when awake, she couldn't remember the language. Thesecret was in her files. Someone really didn't want the information leaking, especially to her. Keagen managed to break into his own files within days oflearning about the other hunters. He was sure Keller and the other lab geeksknew. As if it was standard for all super IQ hunters to go snooping. Ghostalready had tried, but didn't get anywhere, and now it was up to him to get theinformation.
He rubbed his forehead and groaned. Migraines or headachesweren't something he suffered with, and yet this fucker was persistent ifnothing else. Always wary of taking meds, he usually avoided them. Once warnedby someone at the labs that it could fuck up with the viruses that rampagedthrough his body while the gene splicing took hold, he had made it a policy tostay clear of all pills and potions unless administered directly from Keller orhis underling.
For the next two hours, his fingers worked the keys and justas the first glimmering light from dawn started to creep into his room, hefinally hit the jackpot.
This is my 2nd series and after the success of Fallen Angels, I know my readers will love this series too. I put a lot of emotion and thought into my characters and while I am a novice in the writing world, I hope to bring you some fabulous stories in 2016.
