Cowboy star Buck Jones (born Charles Frederick Gebhart 1891-1942) hit the comic scene long after his days of stardom, and even his life, were over. He was a silent movie start, and one of the few who could make the transition to the talkies. He died in a tragic fire in 1942, but his legend remained strong, and in 1951-1952 he starred in his own comics series.
