James Koffer and his family pull up roots in the Midwest and head towards Oregon territory. During the California gold rush of 1849, James and a gang of fellow adventurers veer off, headed for California and certain wealth. Unfortunately, one night James is involved in the slaughter of a Native American village, which places him, and every single one of his descendants and relatives, under an oppressive curse. Lyle Koffer, in the 21st Century, is unaware of any of this. All he knows is nothing goes his way; girls, money, looks. Stellar grades grant him no respite. One day, walking to his car after work, a lightning strike rips him out of his world and plops him down outside nineteenth century Lightning Creek, Idaho. When he stumbles into town, he meets someone who changes his life forever. Written with the teenager and young-adult market in mind, two sequels are planned and currently being written.
