The Other Love Chapter: John 11 is a devotional commentary on the story of the raising of Lazarus. The story is viewed through the lens of friendship--the friendship of two women and Christ's friendship with Lazarus. The lens is dual-focus: Lazarus as both regenerate and resurrected. The text addresses such topics as Deus absconditus--the hiddenness of God, the intermediate state of the soul between death and resurrection, and the joy of the heavenly banquet. Epigraphs, poetry, prayers, and art engender meditation. This is a book to be meandered through. Hasty reading will cause the lens to blur. The Other Love Chapter would make an excellent gift for a friend or for a Christian who has recently lost a family member. The lens zooms in on the realization that all Christians are Lazarus.
