This book, originally published under the name of “Alexandre Dumas”, was actually written by author Jean Charles Du Boys in 1869. It is one of several sequels to the Count of Monte Cristo, written by other authors but published under the name of as “Alexandre Dumas” by T. B. Peterson & Brothers at the end of the 19th century. They called it the "Monte-Cristo" Series, and it included the original "The Count of Monte-Cristo," the present volume "The Countess of Monte-Cristo,", two books by Jules Lermina, "The Wife of Monte-Cristo, Haydée," and "The Son of Monte-Cristo, Espérance, plus two books by Edmund Flagg, Edmond Dantes and Monte-Cristo's Daughter. We now present them to all of Monte Cristo’s fans in this new collection.
