About the Author:

Bilal Ahmed started his career at Novell in 1996 right at the beginning of the internet bubble, developing Novell's web server (Java since 1996). He then moved to Formtek, a Lockheed Martin company which developed document management and work-flow solutions. Bilal lead middle-ware development for Formtek's backend systems. Bilal moved to Actuate, helping customer build enterprise reporting solutions. In 2005, Bilal started at hi5 as a very early engineer (developed photo image algorithms for the social network on 1st week) at the beginning of social networks bubble and built user facing features like photos, music, videos, mobile, friend multimedia cache system, viral and lead teams (gRails since 2008). He then moved on to work for bebo.com developing features while focusing on key viral, retention and engagement metrics. He is the founder of many websites, mytweetmark.com and homecook.me helping local businesses with mobile and twitter. He created the foundation and analytics layer for Saas Market using groovy on Rails. He managed a group of backend, frontend, native iphone and android developers to build mobile application for Wells Fargo business customers. He worked as technical co-founder at gearlaunch, building next generation of products and analytics. Bilal has written 7 books, three on yoga and four on startups. He also worked for federal home loan bank, building next generation of products.
