Just before noon on April 25th 2015, Nepal sustained a 7.6M earthquake that took the lives of nearly 9000 people and injured another 23,000. Entire villages were flattened, and close to a half million people were displaced. A team of volunteers from Global Dental Relief, including five dentists, two hygienists, a dental assistant, and six "non-dental" volunteers from Canada, the Netherlands, and the United States were In Kathmandu on that fateful day, and they quickly rallied to help the victims in any way they could. Five months later, author Don Morreale traveled to Kathmandu University to serve for a month as writer in residence. There he led his students in a project to document their experiences of the quake. "We will Rebuild" is a collection of their stories, and a living testament to the resilience of a people determined to rebuild their country and their lives. Under the auspices of Global Dental Relief, teams of volunteers travel to Nepal, India, Guatemala, Vietnam, Kenya and Cambodia each year to provide free dental care and oral hygiene education to thousands of impoverished children. Since 2001, the organization has served over 108,000 children. All proceeds from the sale of this book will be donated to Global Dental Relief.
