Peter Hoffmann was educated at Hunters Tryst School, Oxgangs, Edinburgh and then to a lesser extent at Boroughmuir Senior Secondary School. After graduate and post-graduate studies in Edinburgh he worked for SCVS; the Scottish Episcopal Church; the private sector and thereafter mainly in local government as a chief officer. He is the author of The Stair, An Edinburgh Childhood. This book is the second volume of a projected Edinburgh trilogy. In a previous life he was an Olympic, European and Commonwealth Games athlete. He is married to Alison and Paw to 'Atticus' and 'd'Artagnan'. He is a ‘Sunday painter’ and in his sixtieth year was chosen to represent Scotland at epee in the Veterans’ Home International against England, Wales and Ireland at Durham. Peter still keeps diaries!
