About the Author

After a thirty year career in real estate, I retired and my husband, Dr. Joe Shirley, and I bought a canal home near Galveston. Our primary home is in Clear Lake Shores, Texas, where this goose story takes place. While remodeling the canal home in 2013, the north wind blew water out of the canal and gorgeous roseate spoonbills, egrets, and blue herons, arrived to 'fish' for fish trapped in the shallow water. I told my husband I had to have a camera so he bought me my first digital camera at Sam's. These events opened a wonderful new path for me to express the artistic side of me that had been put on hold during my real estate career. I am a member of the Audubon Society and Galveston Art League. I was selected and published in Coast Magazine, with a feature article about me called 'The Bird Stalker.' My photos are used in articles and brochures published by the Colombian government for their national aviary in Baru, Colombia. And I was commissioned by the League City Chamber of Commerce to install a series of photos highlighting their city. You can reach me at roselynpierce@comcast.net
