Synopsis
There are currently over 7 billion people sharing planet Earth, and over half of them are either Christians or Muslims. They have been fighting each other off and on for thousands of years, and the events of 9/11, 2001 brought this battle into the 21st century. Christians can be seen burning Korans on the nightly news. The internet is rife with meme-posting cyber bullies spewing the most hateful anti-Muslim rhetoric imaginable. Politicians are calling for the U.S. to close its doors to Muslim immigrants. Meanwhile, there seems to be another terrorist attack weekly somewhere that is either attributed to Muslims or non-Muslims who have become radicalized by the internet. As our world spins out of control, experts say that a major confrontation between Christians and Muslims is inevitable, and will cause irreparable damage to the world as we know it. But what if they’re wrong? What if people around the world come to understand that tolerance is the key to the future? What if love and respect replace hate and mistrust? What if we all figured out a way to concentrate more on our similarities and less on our differences? Learning more about the origins of both Christianity and Islam is the all-important first step toward those goals. Understanding the dangers of the intolerance promoted by radical fundamentalism is also a prerequisite.
