This book is a galloping romp through silly-rhyme-land. Geraldine Ryan-Lush wields a jolly pen; the trials of the calamitous shedding dog, and allergy sufferers vs. pet lovers, are told in a rollicking style that never lets up:
Hairs on fingers
hairs on toes
hairs right up Aunt Bertha's nose
Now you see them
now you don't
Now guests come
and now they won't.
Normand Cousineau's outrageous, stylized illustrations, with deep saturated colors, never fall a single step behind. They reflect and enrich the uproarious fun of the poem to perfection. As a special bonus, the endpapers have been designed for use as a board game - a "snakes and ladders" course incorporating the elements of the story. It can be played with checker pieces and a die.

Geraldine Ryan-Lush is the author of many articles on children's literature, parenting and other aspects of family life.
Born in Montréal, Normand Cousineau studied graphic arts. His editorial illustrations appeared in The Globe & Mail, Lire, The New York Times, L'Actualité and The Observer. He loves telling stories and illustrating children's books. From School Library Journal:
Kindergarten-Grade 3-A buoyant picture book that will delight pet owners. The family dog is shedding, and his young owners must rid him and the house of excess hair. A battle is waged while the chant continues enumerating all the places it accumulates. Wonderfully bright and zany surrealistic cartoon illustrations add to the hilarity. An industrial strength, pink, cow-shaped vacuum gobbles up the furniture as the ever-enlarging dog continues to shed. However, readers will have to forgive a tiny lapse in syntax necessary for poetic flow (e.g., "We won't see those hairs no more" and "You won't have no hairs to fight") in light of the gleeful success of the whole. A rambunctious read-aloud with a bit of pet care thrown in for good measure.
