Ages 3-6. Elliot, the plush toy moose, and his best companion, rag monkey Socks, excitedly anticipate the evening's talent show as they paint the stage for their performance. But when Socks leans over too far on the ladder, she loses her balance, falls, and splatters herself and Elliot with blue paint. A scrub in the bathroom sink is the answer, but the two cloth toys absorb so much water they can't haul themselves out of the basin. Their resourceful toy friends come to the rescue, then roll Elliot and Socks in towels and try to blow them dry with the propeller of a toy airplane. But Elliot and Socks are still so soggy that they may miss the evening's show. As in previous Elliot-Socks adventures, ingenuity and self-reliance prevail: the performers are hoisted onto the clothesline to dry in the sun.
