9781551525051: The SimplyRaw Kitchen: Plant-Powered, Gluten-Free, and Mostly Raw Recipes for Healthy Living

The road to good health through proper diet and nutrition can lead down many paths; you may ask yourself, should I go vegan? Follow a gluten-free regimen? Should I eat raw or cooked foods? Natasha Kyssa offers all that and more in this inspiring collection of mostly raw, whole-foods recipes that will improve your health, no matter what your age. Natasha is a former international fashion model who transformed her unhealthy lifestyle by turning to raw foods almost twenty-five years ago; she is now a raw foods consultant and restaurateur who also runs marathons in her spare time. Natasha promotes a balanced, flexible diet designed for individual constitutions and based on fresh plant foods—gluten-free, toxin-free, and simply delicious. Her regimen also takes into consideration older folks and others who cannot tolerate an all-raw diet by including cooked foods. It's a cookbook and lifestyle guide to be shared between generations, much like Natasha and her mother, who contributes vegan versions of central European classics like borscht, mushroom goulash, cabbage rolls, and lovage dumplings. Other recipes include raw soups, cakes, and puddings, as well as a raw Pad Thai and spaghetti bolognese.

Spend some time in Natasha's kitchen; it will transform your life!

Natasha Kyssa runs SimplyRaw, a healthy lifestyles consulting company, and SimplyRaw Express, a vegan restaurant in Ottawa, Ontario. Her first book, The SimplyRaw Living Foods Detox Manual, was published in 2009.

About the Author:

Natasha Kyssa has been a raw vegan for almost 25 years. She worked as a fashion model in Asia and Europe for ten years, then gave it up to live on her own in Southeast Asia for another two. When she returned to North America, she became a raw vegan and worked in the natural health care industry before becoming a raw foods entrepreneur. She runs SimplyRaw, a healthy lifestyles consulting company, and SimplyRaw Express, a vegan restaurant in Ottawa, where she lives. Her first book, The SimplyRaw Living Foods Detox Manual, was published by Arsenal in 2009.

Review:

A refreshing book with great recipes and real food in its purest and most natural form. It's not only a good idea, but a life-enhancing one.
-Mariel Hemingway, actress (Mariel Hemingway 2013-03-25)

Natasha Kyssa has inspired countless people to take charge of their health and improve their lives by eating "real food for real life." Her easy, scrumptious, plant-empowered recipes (along with her mom's "kitchen whizdom!") opens your eyes and taste buds to a whole (and fresh) new way of life. The SimplyRaw Kitchen is simply fabulous!
-Janet Podleski, co-author of The Looneyspoons Collection (Janet Podleski 2013-04-15)

This book is your road map to delicious and healthful foods. In The SimpleRaw Kitchen, Natasha Kyssa shows you all the cooking and food preparation techniques you need. You'll love it!
-Dr. Neal Barnard, founder/president of the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (Dr. Neal Barnard 2013-04-30)

Natasha saved me from my isolated efforts as a raw vegan, and helped me to completely blossom and thrive. I feel like the very best years of my life are still ahead of me, and moving forward I know I can share with my own family her recipes, stories, and knowledge. I am blessed to have Natasha as a friend and a mentor. I am nourished and grateful.
-Bif Naked (Bif Naked 2013-05-02)

Natasha Kyssa skillfully dispels the myths about raw veganism and shows you just how elementary, accessible, fun and delicious healthy eating can be. Taking the reader step-by-step through her personal journey and the hows, whys, and recipes that follow, you'll find yourself wondering why you didn't start eating raw years ago!
-Rich Roll, vegan athlete and author of Finding Ultra (Rich Roll 2013-05-02)

Chock-full of great information and recipes that are highly accessible with simple ingredient lists and dishes that can be prepared with ease. . . Try these scrumptious recipes from The Simply Raw Kitchen. Your body AND your taste buds will thank you!
-MV Magazine (MV Magazine 2013-09-10)

A good guide for anyone wanting to go high raw or looking for more plant-based goodness in general. The recipes are plentiful and pictures drool-worthy.
-Two Classy Chics (Two Classy Chics 2013-09-17)

I applaud the latest book by vegan and raw food evangelist Natasha Kyssa ... Natasha's kitchen [offers] a new repertoire of mostly bright, beckoning flavours I had no idea could be achieved minus the usual burners, oven or even a modest hotplate.
-Ottawa Citizen (Ottawa Citizen 2013-10-04)

The recipes are simple and easy to follow-from delicious salads and dressings to sumptuous pastas alternatives and desserts. The book is so accessible and inclusive that even the most meat-loving person can get on board and incorporate some of these ideas into their diet.
-WHERE Ottawa (WHERE Ottawa 2014-01-08)

So many think eating raw food is boring or bland -- or just downright hard to do. But The SimplyRaw Kitchen flips that mentality on its head. Not only are the recipes in this cookbook easy for anyone to make, they're delicious! -Fit Bottomed Eats (Fit Bottomed Eats 2014-05-20)
